William F. Buckley Jr: It Didn't Work

"Mr. Bush has a very difficult internal problem here because to make the kind of concession that is strategically appropriate requires a mitigation of policies he has several times affirmed in high-flown pronouncements. His challenge is to persuade himself that he can submit to a historical reality without forswearing basic commitments in foreign policy. "

Dozens of Mosques Attacked, Over 100 Dead, Thousands Protest(Juan Cole)

"Sunni Arabs in Iraq blamed US troops for not protecting Sunni mosques and worshippers from violence. The US military ordered the US soldiers in Baghdad to stay in their barracks and not to circulate if it could be helped. [Later reports said some US patrols has been stepped up.] This situation underlines how useless the American ground forces are in Iraq. They can't stop the guerrilla war and may be making it worst. Last I knew, there were 10,000 US troops in Anbar Province with a population of 1.1 million. What could you do with that small force, when the vast majority of the people support the guerrillas? US troops would be useless if they hcad to fight in alleyways against sectarian rioters. If they tried to guard the Sunni mosques, they'd have to shoot into Shiite mobs, which would just raise the level of violence they face from Shiites in the south. "

Cheney's recent gun escapade and this 2003 Article re-confirms my impression that he has an Antisocial Personality Disorder (i.e. psychopath)

"The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported today that 500 farm-raised pheasants were released yesterday morning at the Rolling Rock Club in Ligonier Township for the benefit of Cheney's 10-person hunting party. The group killed at least 417 of the birds, illustrating the unsporting nature of canned hunts. The party also shot an unknown number of captive mallards in the afternoon. " "If the Vice President and his friends wanted to sharpen their shooting skills, they could have shot skeet or clay, not resorted to the slaughter of more than 400 creatures planted right in front of them as animated targets."

Creatures with this personality disorder have no remorse or feelings for their victims. Their behavior includes disregard for law, repeated lying, conning others for personal profit and killing and torture(especially animals and children). In their youth they often have scrapes with the law(Cheney had 2 arrests after dropping out of Yale). W also has many of these characteristics(link to article about W's sociopathy). These types of personalities can also be extremely charming and convincing, which is perhaps why W and Cheney have managed to climb to the top of our social system, duping the lambs?

Heartless Liar: Photo-Op Summary at Daily Kos

"I don't think anyone could have anticipated the breach of the levees."
- President Bush - September 1, 2005.

Abramoff/Bush Photo Surfaces

"....an e-mail Abramoff sent a journalist friend surfaced last week in which Abramoff wrote that he had met President Bush almost a dozen times over the past five years, and even received an invitation to the President's Crawford, Texas ranch along with other large political donors. Bush "has one of the best memories of any politician I have ever met,..."

Bush's National Guard Enrollment Immortalized in Bronze

"Presidents are often memorialized in their most famous moments -- George Washington crossing the Delaware, Theodore Roosevelt at San Juan Hill.
Now President Bush's time in the Texas Air National Guard has been immortalized in bronze. The National Guard Association of the United States yesterday unveiled a bust of a young Lt. George W. Bush. The association expressed its pride in Bush, who is perhaps its most famous alumnus around today."

Even Bush seemed to think this was ridiculous. According to the article, he seemed remiss to discuss his so-called 'service' at all and "in fact offered virtually no comment on the bust at all."

Bush Sneaks Social Security Privatization into his Budget

"...with no fanfare whatsoever, Bush stuck a big Social Security privatization plan in the federal budget proposal, which he sent to Congress on Monday.

His plan would let people set up private accounts starting in 2010 and would divert more than $700 billion of Social Security tax revenues to pay for them over the first seven years."

Coretta Scott King 1927-2006

"Reverend Joseph Lowery, who along with Martin Luther King Junior founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, openly questioned the priorities of the White House and the premises of the US-led war in Iraq.
Lowery said no weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq but that there were "weapons of misdirection" employed in the United States.
"For war billions more, but no more for the poor," he said to cheers and applause."

A Wonkette Reader's note regarding the Photo to the left(Mike Theiler/European Pressphoto Agency) :

"The NYT left out a funny detail — the students had the words “Tap This” printed on their asses, so Gonzales could read it as he gave his speech. A couple dozen students participated in the protest and some clips were shown on CNN the day of the speech. Too bad they didn't have a more Wonkette appropriate slogan on their asses — I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!"

The End of the Internet?

"The nation's largest telephone and cable companies are crafting an alarming set of strategies that would transform the free, open and nondiscriminatory Internet of today to a privately run and branded service that would charge a fee for virtually everything we do online. "

I knew this was coming. Now, will the lambs let it happen?

Private Sector Job Growth Due to Government Spending Rather than Tax Cuts

"in reality, private-sector job growth since 2001 has been disappointing, and a closer look at the new jobs created shows that federal spending—not tax cuts—are responsible for the jobs created in the past five years."

Were Cindy Sheehan's Civil Rights Violated?

Cindy was invited to the State of the Union speech by her congressional representative, Lynn Woolsey who commented "Since when is free speech conditional on whether you agree with the President? Cindy Sheehan, who gave her own flesh and blood for this disastrous war, did not violate any rules of the House of Representatives. She merely wore a shirt that highlighted the human cost of the Iraq war and expressed a view different than that of the President. Free speech and the First Amendment exist to protect dissenting statements like Ms. Sheehan's last night."
