Thanksgiving Prayer by William S. Burroughs
Now, that is not to say that I am not thankful for many of the amazing gifts I am privileged to experience, but..... this holiday has always been a knife in my side for two reasons: first of all, it uses First Nations people as a symbol of peace and working together, when, in fact, they were exploited and almost exterminated.....and second, 72 million turkeys are slaughtered to 'give thanks?' How twisted and barbaric is that? To kill an animal with a complex nervous system and then consume it? The holiday is one monstrous act of insanity to me....but.... we are all likely insane.
